Charlie Meeks is the Managing Director of Meeks Financial Services, LLC a firm that he started back in July of 2007. Prior to that he was the Shareholder-in-Charge of the Tampa office of the Florida based accounting firm Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. Charlie has worked in both the international accounting and private sector firms for more than 30 years, including several years as a partner with BDO Seidman. Most recently, Charlie was the Managing Partner for Meeks International in Tampa, Florida, which joined the Thomas Howell Ferguson family in September of 2012.
Charlie is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. He received his BSBA from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 1982, which was made possible under the GI Bill.
Charlie is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida, where he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also holds the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst and is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Charlie is very active in the Tampa community and is one of the founders of the Greater Business Network. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and his involvement in Rotary included past positions of Director of the New Tampa Rotary Club and President of the Rotary Club of Lake Mary. He is the Past Treasurer of the Executive Committee of Central Florida Better Business Bureau and the Economic Club of Central Florida. He is a Past Supervisor for Seat 5 of the Northwood Community Development District. Charlie has also formed the Capital Markets Network Group, serves on the steering committee as liaison for the University of Tampa’s Board of Fellow for the College of Social Sciences, Mathematics and Education. He is also a member of the CEO Council of Tampa Bay. Charlie is a Visionary sponsor for GrowFL.
Charlie provides considerable expertise in business valuations for business purchases and sales, due diligence work for business purchases, capital markets consulting for emerging and mature companies, and audit of public and private companies.
During his tenure in public accounting, Charlie has worked with clients in various industries such as high tech firms, wholesale, manufacturing, retail, professional services, telecommunications, agricultural, banking, construction, and various not-for-profit organizations.
Charlie’s experience in public accounting includes forensic services in connection with employee embezzlement cases and responsibilities for the oversight of SEC compliance and registration statement filings for a number of public companies. His valuation projects have been used for income, gift, and estate taxes, business purchases and sales, buy/sell agreements, ownership succession, and purchase price allocation.
When Charlie is not at work, he enjoys time with his family and his church. He and his wife Dawn of 39 years have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Charlie is a leader and is the treasurer of his church and enjoys cycling, running, swimming and playing golf when time permits.
